Ok here goes. The area of Ohio I reside in has limited job prospects. I am long term unemployed. I am not afraid to do most anything as I have worked retail when engineering opportunities were slim. Selling a home and leaving state is always a gamble and few employers if any give relocation assistance. However contract opportunities abound but of course are of a limited duration. My mother however is 85 and has medical issues. I should not leave her alone. I see the following three choices:
1. Wait it out until the economy improves and jobs come back and live off what little reserves I have. Unemployment ending soon.
2. Take a gamble and a position elsewhere leaving mom here while I try to sell the house and then have her follow to new home & job. Chancy as her health is NOT good.
3. Sell the home and use the proceeds to buy a large coach style motorhome and do contract work. I would of course take mom with me out on the road. Opportunities are plentiful and when one contract ends I would simply relocate to the next job.
4. Commute to a position most likely 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours away each direction. Keep home and leave mom unattended for long days (not wise).
