I build and repair bicycles as a hobby out of my garage. Most of these bicycles are built from used parts. I do this to help people that dont have much money, I like to work on them, and it helps to Reduce, Reuse, Rebicycle as I say. They are built for people that are not serious riders. Some of these bicycles will be lost, stolen or abandoned within a year.
A while back I was working on a bike and ran out of grease. I used Vaseline to put the bike together. That was six months ago and the bearings are still good. Well it made me wonder weather I should use it all the time. Vaseline doesnt contain Teflon and other additives that are harmful to the environment which are present in synthetic grease. So should I use Vaseline or grease? |
